There's always that one day in February where I think, despite what Punxsutawney Phil tells us, that spring is here. The sun shines, it's in the mid-60s, and just gorgeous. Today is that day.
I know it's fake. Winter will be with us for several more weeks. It's going to be cold again tomorrow and rainy over the weekend. I know today is nature's way of saying "I've been rough on all of you; here's a present," while also reminding us that one day we'll be mole people and have to live underground.
Anyway, I was doodling while waiting for a meeting to start and drew today's piece. I bought myself flower two weeks ago and they're still in good shape, so they were also part of the inspiration for this little flower.
Fun thing: I noticed it looks like an insect, maybe a dragonfly, if you hold it at a certain angle. Maybe a dragonfly piece is in order this spring.
The Iggy Pop piece on the left was a fun card that was included in one of my Sublime Stitching orders I got last year. Jenny Hart is amazing. Details: Stitches: satin, back and stem stitches, French knots Thread palette: Sublime Stitching 204, 280, 778 (all 3 strands) BONUS PICTURE: So yesterday I had this idea in my head that I couldn't get on paper. I was sketching while watching CSI reruns last night (the Grissom years - the only years you need to watch), and I made a little progress on the idea. It's not the thing, but it gives you an idea of what I meant by "Judy Chicago circa 1960's minimalism meets Space City by Kelsey Wishik," which I realize is an oddly specific reference. |
