Back in 2014, my parents bought me a waffler maker for Christmas. Me being me, I jumped right into making regular waffles and cinnamon roll waffles. I also found myself reading articles about what else one can make using a waffle maker. The answer is a lot of things. Then I had an idea.
Stuffing waffles.
As I shared earlier in the week, I love stuffing. It's one of my favorite Thanksgiving foods, and my mom's recipe is the greatest. I believe it was her grandmother's recipe, but I have to confirm that with her. I help with the celery and onions and the tasting (to make sure the sage isn't out of control). We always make way more than needed, but I can eat stuffing for days so it doesn't matter. I usually have stuffing waffles a few days after Thanksgiving; today is that day.
I didn't use a recipe the first time I made stuffing waffles. There's are lots of recipes out there, many of which add additional ingredients to the leftover stuffing, but I like to keep things simple. I add a little melted butter to the stuffing before I put it in the waffle maker. That's it. Top with cranberry sauce, turkey on the side, and enjoy!
These are last year's waffles since I haven't made them yet today. |
