Tomorrow is the official start of fall, so I thought we'd end summer with one more appearance by Bernie the Bee. Bernie first appeared in March, at the start of spring, and is one of my favorite things I've created during this project. Bernie will live on well after the year is over. I have some ideas for pieces I'd like to make centered around Bernie, and a few people have requested their own Bernie. I promise after this project ends, I'll get back into making things for people.
My original plan for today was to make Bernie's wings out of bullion knots, but I couldn't get them to work. Whatever bullion knot magic was working for me last week, was completely gone today, although I did manage to use bullion knots for Bernie's antenna. Oh well, sometimes my plans work out and sometimes they don't.
As Bernie jets off for the fall and winter, she wants to remind everyone to "bee excellent to each other."
