Did y'all know about glitter fabric paint? I did not, so you can imagine my surprise and joy when finding it as an option. I bought two colors, pixie pink and mermaid's tail. The names alone warrant purchase. Today's piece features pixie pink; mermaid tail and the other non-glitter fabric paints will be used for other pieces this month.
For today's piece, I decided to paint the square first and stitch on top of the paint. I painted the fabric yesterday so it would be completely dry for today.
This morning, I drew the design. You might recognize this design from February; it's the Galentine's Day unicorn. She was a hit back then, so I thought it would be fun to feature her again, but with way more sparkle.
I selected different colors for her mane and horn, so it's a variation of the Galentine's Day unicorn. The paint makes the fabric a little stiffer than it would normally be, so I recommend using a sharp needle. For this particular piece, painting the fabric first worked well. I don't think I would have been able to paint in some of the smaller spots once I started stitching. This also means that if I missed a stitch, there's still some sparkle from the paint.
I highly recommend glitter fabric paint, especially if you're someone who wants to use glitter but doesn't want glitter all over your life forever. There's not a lot of "glitter shedding" (probably not a real thing) from the paint since the glitter dries in place. More painting/embroidery adventures later this month!
