The last time I did a free form embroidery piece, I was in the middle of work event normally held in person that was converted to a virtual event. Last Thursday, I ran the graduation for the same program, also as a virtual event. Everything went well, and I didn't have any stress dreams about the event. For reference, the last time this specific event was held in person, I had a stress dream that the participants all lost their ability to speak and had to present their final presentations to the executive team as interpretive dance routines instead. Stress is weird.
Anyway, I didn't decide to do another free form piece today because of the proximity to the end of the program. I didn't actually realize I did the first one at the start of the program until I re-read my post a few minutes ago. I have a few pieces coming up later this week that I want to be really perfect, so I need to be a little messy today. That's what I like about free form pieces; they're a little messy, but still end up looking very cool.
Details:
Stitches: back stitch, whipped back stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, French knots, split stitch
Thread palette: SS 612, 634, 628 (6 strands) - these are three of the variegated threads from Sublime Stitching. The color split is much more obvious on these threads than on the DMC versions. SS 628 is called Orange Cream; that's where the white thread is coming from.
