I didn't win the lottery.
I didn't expect to win the lottery this week, but there's always a glimmer of hope that the universe and the lucky numbers will come together and I could win a little something. But this week was not my week. When I started this project, I decided I would play the lottery at the midpoint of the project and the last week of the project to see if lucky numbers are lucky. One of the most common reasons people save fortunes is to use the lucky numbers for the lottery. I thought it would be fun to test the practice a few times during the year. This was not my week.
I played two sets of lucky numbers: the numbers from my favorite fortune so far and the numbers from this week's fortune. Here's what I picked:
- Week 3, Fortune 6: Curiosity is life. Numbers: 22 44 41 53 1 16
- Week 26, Fortune 40: You will take a chance in the near future, and win. Numbers: 8 15 25 37 40 49
Here's what it looked like on the play card for the MegaMillions:
I did have to change the order a little bit for both picks since larger numbers aren't available for the last number and it kept changing the order of numbers from lowest to highest. Anyway, I didn't win. Even if I had won, I'm not sure I'd tell anyone...at least not immediately. There would be signs though.
Anyway, let's get into this week's fortune and lucky numbers. It was another one fortune week since I had a work event this week. The event went well. Everyone seemed pleased, so there's that. I enjoyed working with this group and am proud of what they accomplished. I'm also glad the program is over for this year.
This week's fortune is another good one. I love this type of fortune; sort of inspirational/motivational, a little daring, and meant to give a pause to consider what that chance might be. I can think of a few things, but I'm not saying any of them out loud at this point. As I said in one of this week's Instagram posts, I told my plants, but they had no opinions. A cat would have an opinion, so there's that.
Here's this week's fortune and lucky numbers. What chance are you planning on taking in the near future?

Weeks 1-26 |
WIPs, Plants, Thrift Finds, and Other Small Joys
I'm slowly making progress on the vintage travel case. I started gluing the panels last weekend and there are now three secured in the case. I think I can finish it this weekend. I know I've said that for the last three weeks, but I feel like it's going to happen this weekend.
Savage Stitcher during the call. Her book themed designs are some of my favorites. She also has an entire series based on tropes from romance books. They're fantastic.
My tomato and lettuce plants are coming along. The lettuce is taking a little more time to sprout this time around, but it's happening. The tomato plants are like "HELLO! We're over here." It's so exciting.

I had another busy week this week and needed a little relaxation as I got to the end of the week. I did a small abstract painting in this mixed media journal I bought a few years ago. I'm going to try to do one page every week or two to try new things and make some smaller pieces outside of my regular embroidery projects. I used watercolor pencils and metallic watercolor paint for this piece.
I also finished Cackle this week. It's one of the books I bought on my birthday. I enjoyed the book. It's definitely gothic horror light. I was expecting more horror, but wasn't mad that it wasn't super spooky. There are some wonderful passages in the book, and as a woman who isn't married or coupled, I felt a lot of Annie's feelings very personally. It felt a little light at times, but I still enjoyed it.
I took Friday off and decided to go check out a consignment store near the winery I belong to. I wanted to pick up my wine, find some treasures, and drink wine on a Friday afternoon while reading a new book. It was a perfect day after such a busy month.
If you're ever in Purcellville, check out Re-Love It. One of my colleagues recommended it to me and she was so right. It's a great store with all sorts of lovely pieces. The prices are good and the variety and quality is great. I found a Westmoreland blue cat plate (I've been stalking one online and then I found one in the store) and a waterfall art deco nightstand. The nightstand was in pretty good condition; it' needs to be cleaned up and treated. I got it for $50, which is wild. I looked this style and type of piece up online and the sale price was an absolute steal. I've been wanting to redo my bedroom, and this may be the inspiration I needed for the rest of the room. I have a few errands to run this morning and then I'm going to clean the stand and see how it looks.
I also found a beautiful Royal Haeger vase on Etsy this week. It's so pretty! I got it from MBK's Vintage Medley. Great store, very quick shipping. I knew the vase was tall, but it's tall, so it's currently living on the mantle next to Theodora. I'm not sure this is where it's supposed to be, but it's where it is for now. I'm enjoying this thrift/vintage decorating journey I'm on right now. My house feels quirky and lovely and unique.

I have a set of Westmoreland pink koi fish candlesticks and now I have to plan a table design around all three pieces. I'm that person now. |
I have some lovely yellow roses and blue ocean poms out as well. I got them last weekend and they're still really beautiful. The peonies lasted most of the week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and find some small joys.
