As I embrace my new life as a plant lady, I have fully embraced following the wisdom of nature. Nature knows way more than me and will always know what more than me. My plants know more than me. Just ask Elton John the Plant.
Look at him! He's getting re-potted this week as soon as I find a pot liner to fit the larger version of the cat pot. Three years...he's just such a great plant.
Enjoy this week's fortunes and lucky numbers. It was a two fortune week.

WIPs, a New Project, and Other Small Joys
I got some more work done on Scream 6 last weekend during my April craft meetup. It's progress. I need to add the light blue and decide on whether I want to add French knots in some of the open space between the lines. Still a bit to go on this one.
I'm very excited about my new project. The vintage travel case I bought during my trip to Richmond a few weeks ago needs some love, so I've decided to redo the inside to make it into a travel embroidery case. My makeover is inspired by Rally Bird Brand's "Case of the Mondays" series where she creates beautiful art pieces out of vintage travel cases. I've been following her on Instagram and absolutely love her work. I've learned a lot from watching the videos, so I think I'll be able to do this with my case.
I want to turn the lid portion into a large pin cushion, including a felt section to hold needles. I'm also trying to decide if adding a magnetic strip to hold things like scissors and a seam ripper. I may also add a pocket.
Fully stripped inside of the case. It still needs to be cleaned. I took the mirror out since it's pretty banged up and I want to put the pin cushion where the mirror was. I'm going to make a trinket mirror out of it. Saved all the panel pieces to use for templates.

This was what was holding the mirror in place. I kept them...not sure what I'm going to do with them. |
Next up, I'll work on cleaning the case and trying to clean the metal latches. I think I've decided on the fabric for the inside. I'm using some contrasting patterns because why not?
The polka dot fabric will be used for the bottom and all the side panels. This fabric will be used for the pin cushion lid. I'll probably use it for the connecting piece that covers the hinges on the inside of the case.
The back panel had this plastic piece attached. I found a similar case online (I think it's the same case with a pattern on the outside) that had this too. It looks like it originally had another piece to hold bottles or brushes in place.
I kept this for now since I think it will be a good template for whatever I decide to do with the magnetic strip.
This project makes me so happy. I can't wait to get the whole thing cleaned up so I can start working on the new interior. I have to steal a cardboard box from my dad to use for the new panels. I may look for some additional fabric if I make it to either a thrift store or the upcycle craft store where I buy most of my fabric. I like the floral pattern, but I want a few more options. The polka dot fabric is 100% the base fabric.
Let's welcome some new additions to the random menagerie of stuff that lives in my house.

My friend Elaine got me this delightful potato for Easter. Everyone should have a positive potato in their life. |

Did I need these little rabbit planters from Trader Joe's? Probably not, but they're here anyway. |
