The Cup of Fortunes: Week 14 (March 30-April 5)

Maybe I'm more aware of my conversations right now, but I keep feeling like the cup of fortunes is telling me things. This week, I've had at least four conversations that were examples of this week's fortune even if none of the people involved used the same words. These conversations took place with different people, at different times during the week, and at least two of the people don't pay attention to my stitch journal project so they would have no idea about this week's fortune. Perhaps I'm giving the cup of fortunes too much power in my life, but I like the idea of letting it be in charge and giving me advice I can either keep to myself or share with my friends.

Our brains don't like uncertainty. I know my brain absolutely does not like uncertainty. That's why I overthink things and am a perfectionist about a lot of things. I make things certain when uncertainty is the norm. This isn't the healthiest thing I can do for myself. I'm working on it, but old habits die hard. The sheer amount of uncertainty we're experiencing makes living during this particular time in history incredibly stressful and weird and horrible. I think courage can be finding joy or taking rest when you need it. It can also be doing the super hard thing you don't want to do, but you need to do.

What is the cup of fortunes going to tell me next?

This week was a one fortune week. Here's this week's fortune and lucky numbers.

WIPs, the Mushrooms Return Home, and Moments of Joy

I'm still working on Scream 6. This week, I started adding the French knots that represent the people in this piece. I started with the glow in the dark thread and have slowly started adding DMC Etoile thread in various shades of purple, pink, and blue. I like how it's coming along so far. I do need to add some more glow in the dark knots to balance it out.

The mushrooms are home! I went and picked up my Mushroom Farm pieces from the Woodlawn Show. They're now hanging on my studio wall. It's nice to have them home. I'm already starting to think about what I'm going to submit for next year's show. I'm planning on submitting a commercial work (that's already done), an original abstract piece (that I haven't started), and a piece based on the spite house in Old Town (also not started). This is very exciting.

Last weekend I enjoyed my first baseball game of the season, built a Lego plum blossom kit, and documented my lettuce plant's growth. They're doing so well! I also used some of the herbs and they're still alive...this surprises me since I wasn't sure how they'd do.

Stumpy made an appearance during the game and the Presidents Race. If you don't know about Stumpy, check out this article from NBC 4.

I highly recommend Lego botanical sets. This one was fun to build. I also have the chrysanthemum kit but haven't started it yet.

I randomly found some kitchen miniatures on Etsy this week. I couldn't help myself. You know I love tiny art. They look really nice on my trinket shelf.

Look at the lettuce! And the herbs!

I hope you enjoy your weekend and do something fun or nice for yourself (or both). I'm going to see Poppy the pygmy hippo who lives at the Metro Richmond Zoo. I'm very excited about this. I'll share some Poppy pictures next week.
