The Stitch Book: Week 22 (May 26-June1)

I love cicadas. I'm probably one of like seven people who truly enjoy the cicadas when they emerge. I featured a cicada in my Screams series (part of the 2021 stitch journal) and did a lovely cicada pattern from Rabbit Hat Designs. Like spiders, I just really enjoy cicadas.

This year is a unique year since both broods of cicadas are emerging at the same time for an event called the dual emergence. Like the "path of totality," I enjoy saying "dual emergence" way more than I should. Unfortunately, I don't live in a state where the dual emergence is happening, so I have to be satisfied with a single brood. The last dual emergence was in 1803 and the broods won't align again until 2245, so you can see what a cool freaking event this actually is. If you live in a dual emergence area, please send me pictures.

To honor my cicada friends, I decided to focus this week's piece on the five steps you can follow to become a cicada. I hope you enjoy it!

Week 23's color is limestone.

My friend Kelly visited this week and we had the best time. I can't stress enough how good a dessert board is and how spending time with one of my favorite people on the planet was exactly what I needed. We had adventures and it was perfect.
