December - Jeans (Week 3)

I'm still having a hard time believing it's almost 2024. I'm not sad that 2023 is coming to an end, but time seems to be even more of a construct this year. I'm heading to New York for a few days after Christmas and that's next week. It's wild.

Anyway, Pocket 1 was fun to work on. I probably could have done more filled shapes, but I like the outlines a lot. I did attempt to do a woven wheel stitch with only four spokes; it worked, but it doesn't have as pronounced of a shape had I used an odd number of spokes as the stitch calls for (typically five or nine).

The last part of this month's stitch journal is Pocket 2. I decided to go with a big flower design for this one. I haven't decided which stitches to use yet (maybe some satin stitch or French knots?), but I'll figure it out. I'll be in NYC while working on this part. I had to get one more embroidery road trip in before the end of the year.

Here's this week's recap:

Prepping for the 2024 Stitch Journal

I did start preparing for the 2024 stitch journal project. As I mentioned last week, I'm using an upholstery sample book for the fabric this year. I took the book apart this week and started a sample piece on one of the colors I'm not using. I'll have to cut some of the fabric off and hope the information label comes off for each piece. It's not hard to embroider through, so even if the label doesn't come off, I can still use it. More to come on next year's project in the final post of 2023 (December 31).

Happy Holidays from Keely and Friday! Keely is less than thrilled with me for bringing him to my parents' house, but I'm pretty sure my dad giving him chicken will more than make up for it.
