I can't believe that June is tomorrow. That seems really bizarre to me. I don't exactly know why, but it does. Maybe I'm sad because I'm saying goodbye to May's stitch journal. This month has been a lot of fun to make. It's the closest I've come to last year's stitch journal and I liked returning to the looseness and free form nature of 2022. I didn't plan any of this month and that's always really fun for me given my natural tendency to plan everything. My brain needs little planning breaks.
This month was also focused mostly on lines. I love how a simple stitch like the back stitch can become so intricate and interesting. I also liked combining stitches and need to remember to do more of that when I can.
I'm working on a short presentation for the museum where I'm a docent and I'm focusing on textiles and fabric focused pieces. In giving part of my presentation last weekend, I realized how close this year's stitch journals are to the works I'm talking about for my presentation. Not all of the pieces are autobiographical, but they are personal.

Coming in June - Rainbows
Rainbows are one of my favorite things. My birthday is in June and my mom always tells me about how there was a rainbow outside the day I was born. I have no idea if that's true, but I've always loved rainbows and I associate them with my birthday. Of course, it's also Pride month and I love how rainbows are part of Pride too.

June's pattern is on the right. I'm featuring colors associated with various Pride flags. |

Iconic Series Updates
I finished
Iconic #11 last weekend, although I still think it needs something. I'm not sure what, so I'm going to leave it for now. I also got started on
Iconic #12. It should be done by this weekend. I haven't decided which quote is next. I'll figure it out by the time I finish #12. Check out last weekend's
post for more on the first ten pieces in the series.
