May: Feeling Skinny 3

I learned the laced and double laced back stitch in July 2021. Part of that year's project was to grow my stitch knowledge and I ended up learning 26 new stitches in the course of the project (31 total stitches were used that year - yes, I kept track). I used both stitches a few times during last year's journal, but haven't used them for a non-journal related piece. I'm going to try to incorporate one or both into an upcoming Iconic piece and maybe one of the designs I'm working on for a friend. They're fun stitches and sort of look like a chain stitch if the loops are pulled tighter. They fit in nicely with what I've done so far for this month's journal.

Technically, there are 1.5 weeks to go this month. I think I'll keep it all as one week, so the next recap post will be the end of the month post on May 31. This leaves me room to write about Iconic in more detail next weekend.

Here's this week's recap:

Other Stuff and More on Iconic

I finished the May PopLush embroidery club pattern, Werewolf Boss. I opted for the rose gold paint for this hoop. It looks nice, but takes three coats of paint for a wooden hoop. I'm going to try copper out on next month's pattern.

I'm tentatively hanging my PopLush monsters/creatures on the wall where I was storing hoops. I don't know where else to hang them.

Started stitching Iconic #8 this week. I hope to finish it this weekend. I've also started working on the design for the quote that started the project. Maybe I'll be able to share that one next weekend. I'm also planning a separate post on the series, but won't get to it until Memorial Day weekend.

Non-embroidery updates:

I survived last week's skate night. I did fall on my ass, but I didn't seriously injure myself and I made it around the gym once. I've been skating in my living room for 10 minutes each day while I wait for my indoor/outdoor wheels to arrive and to find some time to visit one of the rinks. Keely is very suspicious of my skates. Cats.

I ordered a piece of pottery from Dan Pearce Pottery and it arrived this week. It looks really nice next to Elton John the Plant.

Lastly, if you need some rainbow sparkle in your life, run out to Target and yourself one of these adorable glasses.
