February: Cats in Hats and Other Things #4

And so another month ends! I hope you enjoyed Cats in Hats and Other Things as much as I did. It was fun to add little items to shirt cat's life. It took me back to my 2021 project and working in smaller scale. While I loved all the items I added, I think the cowboy hat, raspberry beret, spider toy, and winter hats were my favorites.

Keely was a big help with this week's entries.

Here's the final recap for February:

February 19: I'm not saying this is Keely, but I'm not not saying it either. Shirt cat needed a friend.

February 20: Keely's favorite toy is his spider toy, so he shared it with shirt cat this week. Yes, this is completely out of scale with the cat, but it legitimately does not matter.

February 21: Happy Mardi Gras!

February 22: Bandana cat

February 23: I loved the Sinclair dinosaur when I was a kid, so he paid a visit to shirt cat this week.

February 24: It's never too early to start planning for Halloween.

February 25: Umbrellas should always be colorful.

February 26: An ode to cats who are blanket thieves.

February 27: It's almost baseball season! This might be another example of a hat that looked better in my original drawing.

February 28: the bowl is always empty even when it's full - cat logic.

Other Projects

I finished my first embroidery on a canvas piece this week. I used the Runic Raven pattern from PopLush for the design. I didn't do a great job transferring the tail feather section of the raven, so I had to improvise a bit in my stitching (my apologies to PopLush on that). I did use a needle felting needle to pre-punch holes in the canvas. It was a completely unnecessary step, but it was worth a try this time. I think I'll be able to use transfer paper next time or I may try transferring the pattern before painting on the next one. I may try an abstract design next time, so I may not need to worry about pattern transfer since I can draw directly on the canvas if I do that.

I used a sequin for the eye. I think it adds a little something.

I also finished two other PopLush kits this week and tried out a stabilizer for next month's stitch journal. I don't think I'm going to use it. I didn't like stitching with it and worry it won't dissolve well. I think I can manage another t-shirt without it.

March Preview

March's stitch journal is called 31 Words. I'll share more about this piece on Instagram and the first recap post on March 4th. Here's a preview of the first four words:
