February: Cats in Hats and Other Things #3

Hard to believe there's only one more week left for the February stitch journal! (Programming note: the last February blog will be posted on February 28 since it's the end of the month.) February always flies by and working on this stitch journal made it go by even faster.

This week, I finished the front of the shirt (days 1-14). I also sketched and transferred the entire rest of the month. Some of my sketches didn't transfer as well as I would have liked, but they still look adorable on the cat.

The baseball cap is on the agenda for next week.

Here's this week's recap:

February 12: inspired by Keely's love of his laser pointer toys.

February 13: It's been sort of gloomy here this week, so I've been using as much color as possible. Look at that bright flower!

February 14: Yes, your cat loves you. They just show their love in unique ways like bringing you dead stuff, following you into the bathroom, and staring at the same spot on the ceiling for long periods of time. Maybe it's your upstairs neighbor making noise. Maybe you have a ghost. Only your cat knows and they love you enough to protect you.

February 15: Meowdy! I love this cowboy hat even though the sketch looked better.

February 16: If cats protested...

February 17: Inspired by my favorite Prince song and the raspberry beret my friend Heather knitted for me many years ago. It's the only hat I like wearing.

February 19: Is it an ugly sweater or a poncho? Shirt cat doesn't care; he just wants to be warm.

WIPs and Other Things

I finished my first PopLush embroidery club pattern: a jackalope with hearts. If we're going to celebrate Valentine's Day, it might as well be with a jackalope.

It's so funny and adorable. I love PopLush patterns so much. I have lots more to work on this year between other projects. This is my first painted hoop and I think the red makes it pop even more.

On that note, I did some paint swatching for my upcoming hoop painting. I really love the metallic options. The glitter paints will be nice to combine with the jewel tones.

Almost done with my fourth PopLush dinosaur pattern as well. I'm excited to add this one and the one coming in March to the wall of dinosaurs in my kitchen. Where else would I hang them?

I'm excited for the long weekend. Monday is going to be my organize/declutter/clean the studio day. I'm excited to go through stuff and make the space a little less wild. I also have a painting/embroidery project to start and I need to pick a color palette for March's stitch journal. Good times.

It's a work in progress. I may have cut one of my knuckles with the awl - it's fine, but I should probably be less aggressive with my punching.

Enjoy your weekend and enjoy this photo of me wearing my raspberry beret.
