This has been a very busy week. I hosted a big event at work for the first time in three years. It went really well and everyone seems pleased with things, but I am tired. Being around people is exhausting and being "office on" is something I'm so not used to anymore. I was able to keep up with the stitch journal entries on the days I went in. I simplified it to make it more manageable.
I'm thinking the shirt cat needs a name. Any thoughts?
Here's this week's recap:
|
February 5: Keely's working on his first book and shared a bit of with shirt cat. |
|
February 6: The cat is upside down on the shirt, but I took pictures of it both ways since he's so cute in his bowtie. |
|
February 7: Kusama cat (one of the days I was at work until late). |
|
February 8: Ribbon cat (the other day I was at work late). |
|
February 9: Top hat! What cat doesn't want to look dapper in a top hat? (Keely. Keely doesn't ever want to look dapper in a top hat.) |
|
February 10: He has his own cat tree! I'm proud of this one. |
|
February 11: Another winter hat. |
WIPs and Other Stuff I'm Working On
I've been on a roll with completing vault patterns from PopLush. Check out their Etsy store to grab some of the remaining kits and patterns before they're all gone. You can also join the Embroidery Club, like I did, to receive a delightful monthly kit. I'm in the regular club and this year's theme is monsters. I missed January, so I got my first one this week. Just look at this adorable creature.
It's a Valentine's jackalope! How freaking funny is that?!? (Check out
this article if you've never heard of a jackalope.) I'm going to start painting hoops (not for every project) and thought the jackalope would be a good one to try as a test. The red looks great and I discovered I can use wineglasses as stands while they dry.
I'm going to have to have a wall of monsters somewhere in my house. I have so much art to hang it's not even funny.
I also finished my third PopLush dinosaur pattern. I have one more of the vault set and then another one is the March pattern. The dinos are hanging in my kitchen.
My goal moving forward is to work on a few small projects, either kits or my own, each month to give me space from the stitch journal. I have so many things I want to create and embroider and I like embroidering in the evenings while watching tv or listening to music. Working on these kits has made me realize I need to have more than one project going at all times. It's how my brain works.
I plan on starting my next series, Iconic, in March and doing the full Screams series in April and May. Exciting things are coming on An Embroidery a Day!
Sneak peek at the March stitch journal:
I've already started working on March's stitch journal design, 31 Words. I'm trying to decide what colors to use; the garment is a black t-shirt. Here's a test page of the words:

Another PopLush vault pattern. I'm sending this to someone. Sadly, they won't be able to display it at work even though it would be really great if they could. |
