I don't have a lot to say this week. I mean, I have a lot to say, but I haven't formed the words and am trying my best to be in an okay mood today since it's my dad's birthday and I'm spending the day with my family. I will say three things:
- If you can, donate to local funds or organizations on the ground helping those who need it. I recommend this abortion fund if you need a recommendation.
- Don't let anyone tell you how to feel or express your feelings or show your support. Going to a protest or rally isn't the only way to show up, so do what's best for you.
- Caveat to #2: Please, for the love of whatever deity you believe in, stop with the Handmaids stuff. White ladies in particular. I get the allure, I really do, BUT women of color and other marginalized groups have been dealing with this even while Roe was in place and have been telling you about it too. The book/show is dystopian for them because it's their real life.
One bright spot this week: I taught my first embroidery class yesterday. It was for a charity fundraiser at work. I think it went well. The participants seemed to enjoy themselves and we discussed doing it again in September for Blood Cancer Awareness Month (we support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as one of our philanthropies at work). It was a nice distraction yesterday.
Here's this week's recap:
June 19: The blanket stitch is back! |
June 20: The beginning of Unintentional Dinosaur #2. I don't know how I keep doing this. |
June 21: I didn't really see the dino until I added French knots. This was also primary election day here in Virginia. It was a long and random day. |
June 22: orange and yellow chain stitch |
June 23: The leadership program I run at work ended on Thursday so this was in honor of it being done, but can be used for all number of things. |
June 24: Added the arrows. I'm done with so many things and people and institutions. |
June 25: It's not exactly a heart, but it's not not a heart. I'm screaming outside of it though if that helps. |
