Kuchisabishii

There is a part in the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, where the Grinch has returned home after visiting Whoville and messing with the mail and participating in shenanigans and he's sitting in his recliner eating glass. He asks himself, "Am I eating because I'm bored?" I thought of that exact moment when I learned the word kuchisabishii. It's a Japanese word and translates to "lonely mouth" or "the feeling of not being hungry, but eating because your mouth is lonely." I know the Carrey version of The Grinch is not everyone's favorite, but one of the things I like about is that the Grinch is very self-aware and expresses a lot of emotions rather than just being mean. He's been wronged. He feels lonely. He's sad. Basically, the Grinch is all of us.

We've learned a few new words during the course of this project, so why not include one more before the end? I thought including kuchisabishii today would be fitting.
