Unintentional dragon

I was planning to do a completely free form embroidery piece today using variations on the chain stitch. I haven't done a free form piece in a while, so it felt like a good time to do one. I decided to work with DMC Perle 5 thread too. It's grown on me over the course of this year. Anyway, I started with a standard chain stitch (the purple thread), and it just didn't scream "variations on chain stitches" to me. I ended up using a split and whipped back stitch instead. I love the shape of the line and it reminds me of a dragon. I did watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings this weekend and I love the dragon, so maybe that's how this happened.

Details:
Stitches: chain, back, whipped back, and stem stitches, French knots
Thread palette: DMC Perle 5 550, 909, 946
