Happy Birthday, Keely!

Today we celebrate the birth of the most handsome cat I know, my cat Keely. He turns five today, and could not be less interested in his birthday. He spent most of the day napping in his bed. He did manage to get his new toy stuck under the oven while I was on a call, and was displeased with me for not immediately helping him. The toy has since been retrieved and is now being ignored. He also got to enjoy a tuna can at lunch and had a special dinner (Arctic char cat food is a thing). All in all, Keely's had a pretty great day.

In honor of his birthday, I took the suggestion of a friend and turned a photo of him into an embroidered piece. I took the picture about a month ago. Keely was heading to the vet for a dental procedure that day and wasn't allowed to have any food that morning. He didn't understand why I wasn't feeding him, so he spent twenty minutes sitting on the edge of the kitchen, staring longingly at his favorite place (the kitchen), willing me to feed him. Here's the photo:

Here's the embroidered version:

I'm pleased with my embroidered version, particularly Keely. It came out much better than I thought it would. It's not meant to be a realistic version of my kitchen, just a little tribute to my little weirdo on his birthday.

Happy Birthday Keely! Please enjoy a few collages of really handsome photos of him throughout the year.
