I missed celebrating Alma Thomas's 130th birthday. She's one of my favorite artists and has been a huge inspiration to me. Thomas was another late in life artist, having taught in DC Public Schools for 30 years prior to starting her art career. I love her paintings, the structured approach she took to abstract painting and the influence of nature in her work. I love including her in museum talks too. I did a piece inspired by her work earlier in the project too.
Happy Birthday Alma! I hope you like today's piece. It was inspired by her painting Iris, Tulips, Jonquils, and Crocuses.
The back is pretty great too. |
