Fall flowers: Asters

I was at the grocery yesterday, and the florist was putting out spectacularly colored potted flowers. I really wanted to take a picture, but it was awkward, so I didn't. Anyway, the colors were so wonderful: purples, burnt orange, yellow (but not sunshine-y yellow). Fall flowers don't get nearly the credit they deserve. I was tempted to buy one, but I'm a notorious plant killer, so I left the flowers to someone who might actually give them a good home.

Today's piece is my attempt at asters. Asters are one of my favorite fall flowers. They bloom in purple, pink, blue, and white forms, and attract butterflies. I went with a few purple options, and the French knots are made with one of my favorite colors, Butter Pat (Sublime Stitching 302). I hope to feature a few other fall flowers over the next few months. I would love to see your fall blooms if you're a plant person!
