Did a little free form embroidery today, and experimented with whether cassette tape ribbon is a good medium for French knots. It's not terrible, but it's probably not the best either. Originally, I was planning to do some embroidery over the ribbon with regular thread, but it didn't want to work, so I switched things up and went with this random French knot/back stitch combo. Two tips for cassette tape ribbon French knots:
- Reinsert your needle a little further from where you bring your needle up through the fabric after you wrap your "thread" - it makes it easier to pull the ribbon through and make the knot.
- Be mindful of the ribbon on the back. You have to insert your needle around it rather than through it as you might do with actual thread.
