I'm going to the museum today. I haven't been to the museum where I'm a volunteer in over a year. I miss it terribly. Virtual programming has been fine, but there's something about being in the building and seeing art in person that you just can't capture on Zoom. We're closing in August for two years for major renovations, so this is probably my last chance to visit until we reopen. The renovation is going to be amazing, but two more years of virtual and maybe offsite volunteering is going to be a lot.
Anyway, I was scrolling through Twitter this morning, and one of the art accounts I follow, #WOMENSART, was doing a theme of art featuring rainbows. I decided to make another rainbow using DMC Etoile thread (the thread with the sparkle) and use a few different stitches. Then I got very annoyed with myself because using Etoile thread for things can be an exercise in frustration. Like metallic thread (which is the devil), Etoile thread has a tendency to do whatever it wants. It's not until a several stitches in that the thread calms down. It's the sparkly part that makes it such a pain. Of course the sparkly part is also what makes it pretty.
Details:
Stitches: back, whipped back, stem, split stitches
Thread palette: DMC Etoile C666, C740, C444, C699, C798, C820, C550, C310 (6 strands)
