I started rewatching Schitts Creek earlier this week. If you haven't watched the show, please stop reading this and start watching it right now. The first two seasons are a little awkward, but the show is a gem. I love it. Dan Levy is a genius (also those eyebrows), and the entire cast is a gift. Catherine O'Hara is a North American treasure (she's Canadian so we can't say national treasure as that wouldn't be 100% accurate).
Today's piece is inspired by the fifth episode in season one, "The Cabin." When Moira and Johnny leave the kids (adult children) behind at the motel for some peace and quiet, Alexis decides to throw a party. She misses being around people and being in the center of things. Of course, David doesn't want to have a party, but when does he want to do anything but wear fabulous sweaters and ask people thrice to do something? The earlier part of my week had me feeling a bit like Alexis. I wanted to be around people and roll my eyes at them about stupid stuff and have loose acquaintances enjoy my ridiculous anecdotes about Keely.
Soon. Soon that could happen again. I got my second vaccine shot today and in two weeks, I'll feel somewhat better about returning to the world at large. Until then, remember we're all "A Little Bit Alexis."
