Peony

Peonies are my favorite flower. They have a very short growing season, roughly April-June, so they're usually around for my birthday (in June). They're beautiful flowers, and give off a lovely light scent. My parents have peonies along the side of their house, and I usually can grab a few of theirs before the flowers are done blooming. Given their short growing season, peonies can be expensive, so I'm always on the hunt for affordable ones. I usually luck out at Trader Joe's or the farmers market. I hope to go to the farmers market next weekend to try my luck.

My initial sketch was not the greatest, so I kept working on it over the weekend. I got the flower to a more peony-like shape, and then hated the leaves. I ended up combining the leaves from my initial sketch with the flower in my third sketch. Practice makes progress or something.
