Experiments, Part 3

I recently bought some fabric that looks like a mermaid tail. I didn't really have a purpose in mind when buying it; it was pretty and I thought "mermaid!" It's been sitting in my fabric pile waiting for me to decide its purpose. One of the ideas I had was to stitch on top of the fabric, either creating a mermaid body to go with the pattern or to randomly fill in some of the scales with stitching. Today's piece is in line with the latter idea; creating a design using the design of fabric. When I started working on it, I was planning to do two separate designs.

As I worked on it later in the day, I decided I liked the tiny floral-like pattern that emerged when I did the same pattern across the fabric. It's also pretty low-key, which I needed today (busy day at work).

Details:
Stitches: straight stitch - funny thing, even though I wasn't connecting lines, I found myself doing a back stitch every so often. You can't tell on the front, but you can on the back.
Thread palette: SS 504 (one of my favorite colors), 612 (I used this one to tack the fabric panel to the April calendar) - both 6 strands
