Dot Obliteration, Version 2

Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos.
Yayoi Kusama

As I shared yesterday, today's post is inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama and her 2017 exhibition, Infinity Mirrors. The last part of the exhibition was a piece called The Obliteration Room, where visitors got to place stickers around the room. I visited the exhibition closer to the end of the run, so the room was pretty well covered. Every version of this room is different; I like that about it. The room inspired a glitter purse I made back when I was still in a Mardi Gras krewe. My friend Brian is the proud owner of this glitter purse, so I know it lives in a good home. There are some pictures of it here (near the end of the post).

Today's version of the dots is based on this room and this purse. I used sequins for the purse, but opted to use a variety of stitches to get the sense of layers and different configurations of dots. Like the room, I can work on this for the rest of time and it might never be done. I could make this again in a year and it'll look completely different. This makes me happy.

And yes, I do have a favorite dot...it's the red one in near the upper left corner.
