Lou Reed Gloom

If you ever find yourself in the middle of a Lou Reed gloom, don't go to the grocery store. You'll end up buying Neapolitan ice cream and a variety pack of cereal because you do legitimately want chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream AND Lucky Charms and Cheerios sound good. It's also best to avoid getting a hair cut or making any large purchases.

As I shared in yesterday's post, I was in a mood this week and wasn't entirely sure what was causing it. Could be the pandemic wall, could be Ted Cruz's stupidity, could be regular winter blahs. I realized last night that it's probably closer to what I affectionately refer to as a "Lou Reed Gloom." Hard to tell if it's existential dread or lack of caffeine. Today's piece is something I wrote in my last post on my other blog, The Island of Misfit Toys. I'm taking a break from the Island to focus on this project, so I'm a little sad about that too. I've been writing the Island for ten years, and it's incredibly fun. However, I can't do both well, so I'm focusing here for now. Choices have been made.
